Let's dig further into some of the issues the production employees face each day, and what it's going to take to bring them together for a better future.

Pacific Ship, tell us what changes you would like to see at your workplace.
Recently, Pacific Ship Repair spent tens of thousands of dollars hiring a Union Busting Law Firm and held it's employees in captive audiance meetings telling them that they did not need a Union. Pacific Ship has NEVER been Union in San Diego and the production employees' were persuaded by scare tactics from the Company, telling them they would basically go out of business if they went Union. That tactic will not work again. We are going to continue our efforts in uniting all of the San Diego Shipyard Workers for a better wage and benefit package. Keep us informed with the issues at Pacific Ship. Favoritism? High cost in health benefits? We are here to help build a better waterfront for the WORKERS!

ReplyDeletelets organize a union for better wages .
ReplyDeleteYes, the only way workers can gain better wages, benefits and working conditions is by working together and supporting eachother in organizing a union. The strength of the union is determined by it's supporters. That means that everyone needs to VOTE UNION. The company is not going to respect us as individuals. If the company continues to charge a production employee (+2) over $600/month for healthcare, how are you expected to support a family? Coming together is the key! It is the beginning.
ReplyDelete-What other issues besides high healthcare costs are you experiencing at Pac Ship /San Diego?
